The project is funded by the Canadian government through the Caribbean Development Bank that aims at providing the citizens with a safer shelter during the times of natural calamities such as hurricanes and earthquakes.
Dominica presented the esteemed Sisserou Award of Honour upon the United Kingdom and recognised the substantial support, which was rendered by the UK following the devastation of the island caused by Hurricane Maria.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit advised the residents from the community of La Plaine that their heritage is not to be used for entertainment purposes but to be viewed from the perspective of potential economic benefit to the area.
The system will comprise of transmission lines and substations which ensures that the country can connect to Hydro Power and Geothermal Power to the Centre of Control of DOMLEC (Dominica Electricity Services Limited).
PM Skerrit urged all to take pride in the transformation project that holds up the potential to unlock numerous opportunities for economic growth and development.
The Ambassador of the Netherlands to the Commonwealth of Dominica reaffirmed the commitment, that was made to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
PM Skerrit said that it is anticipated that once the weather holds up and all else is in order, the work will be completed within 90-Days. He also said that the river defense wall is more than brick and mortar.
