Three significant possibilities that can end the world are climate change, a nuclear war between ignorant human beings and technological disruption. More physically well-built creatures than human beings also exist on this earth.
But still, we have been ruling the planet for so many years. One very clear from this fact is that we don’t need physical strength to gain control. We need intellectual power. At present human species is one of the most advanced species walking on the earth.
From the invention of fire and the wheel to creating self-driving automobiles at the speed at which we have technically advanced through one possibility has become everyone’s concern. Will artificial intelligence surpass human intelligence? Hack our bodies and mind and leave us all mere a bag of flesh?
Let’s first understand artificial intelligence very adequately.
There are two words in this term—artificial intelligence. Let’s keep the word fake aside and focus on intelligence. What is intelligence? And why is it one of the most dominant traits of human beings? There’s no such definition of intelligence, but it is collectively made by combining many different abilities like learning, reasoning, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, creativity, and self-awareness. If we see the proper definition of AI, then it is an ability in which computers or computer-controlled robots can carry out human activities. Humans have the capability to analyse the situation and adapt them. If we see the proper definition of AI, then it is an ability in which computers can adapt to human data and perform their daily task.
From google assistant to humanoid robots and self-driving cars, and autonomous weapons, all artificial intelligence has applications.
HACKING HUMAN BEINGS
There’s a possibility that humans might get hacked by these AI.
You must have heard at least once that someone’s social media was hacked, or some government sites are under the control of hackers. But in the future, hacking a fully grown human could also be possible. Let’s take an example to explain this. Imagine you are chatting with your friends about a watch. And after some time, while scrolling on social media, you get the advertisement for the same watch. Has this ever happened to you? Yuval Noah Harai, a well-known historian and best-selling author, believes that if artificial intelligence is not appropriately regulated, there’s a chance of human beings getting hacked.
From google searches to social media accounts, we willingly share our data on the internet, which gets stored somewhere. We cannot deny the possibility that the same data will be used against us to manipulate us. As Yuval says, Netflix tells us what we should watch, Amazon tells us which products to buy, and in the upcoming 10-20 years, some algorithm will tell us what course we should take, where we should work, and whom we should we marry. For now, we have been superficially kept under surveillance.
In the upcoming years, there’ll be VR glasses in front of our eyes, chips will fit inside our brains, and we’ll come so close to artificial intelligence that it’ll be hard to detach ourselves. Artificial intelligence will be tracking our bodily functions, which can also result in biohacking.
THE GRADUAL EXTENSION OF HUMAN RACE
What will happen 40-50 years later? It is very hard to predict it. Because we live in a very dynamic world, if we analyse our past and observe our present, one thing is clear: our future will be very different. Now it’s up to us if we make it different in a good way or a bad way. Physically strong animals like elephants and lions are caged in the zoo, and we humans go to see them as recreation activities. Suppose human goals and intelligence don’t align with artificial intelligence technology. In that case, there is a possibility that we might be locked up, and the super intelligent humanoids might come to visit us for their recreational activities. And that could be our fate.
CONCLUSION
Will we get Utopia or Dystopia because of artificial intelligence? Only time and our decisions can tell us.
