Palestinian PM Mohd Shtayyeh alerts Israel against East Jerusalem policies

Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye of Palestine has warned Israel against maintaining its policies in East Jerusalem and held it responsible for any possible future war between the two sides.

The Palestinian residents who belonged to East Jerusalem are subjected to the most horrific policies and practices of persecution, racism, and ethnic cleansing to displace them from their homes and substitute them with settlers said Ishtaye in a statement.

As per the resources that the Palestinians, either in East Jerusalem or the West Bank or from anywhere, “will not surrender these policies and resist them with all strength and resolution.

Sheikh Jerrah, who is one of the communists from the prestigious neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem that includes most diplomatic consulates, has witnessed tensions since the starting of the last week.

Tensions climbed when the Israeli administration threatened to remove numerous Palestinian families from their homes.

According to Palestinian officials, the Israeli authorities seek to destroy 22,000 homes, of which 250 were announced for destruction during the first half of this year.

In the past few months, 34 residential, commercial and agricultural facilities in the city have been destroyed by the side of the government of Israel, according to the Palestinian institutions operating in East Jerusalem.

Ishtaye attended a meeting with 30 US Congress on February 21 Monday in which he stated that Israeli is responsible for its endless measures against the Palestinians, either by building settlements or removing families from their homes.

The official Palestinian report noted that 700,000 Israeli settlers have lived in 151 settlements located in the Palestinian lands in East Jerusalem and the West Bank since 1967.

At that time, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry called the International community in order to deal with the utmost seriousness with “the hostile-to-peace Israeli statements.”

During a press conference, Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz‘ stated in the dialogue session at the Munich Security Conference 20 Sunday that the Palestinians will have an entity in the future but not in the full-fledged state.

In the end, Gantz stated that we would soon reach the solution that depends on two identities. We will respect the Palestinian sovereignty and governance while our society’s needs are respected.
