Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew extends warm invitations to the Kittians and Nevisians ahead of the sitting of the National Assembly to be held tomorrow, May 25, 2023, at 10 am at the National Assembly Chambers.

Prime Minister will read a number of bills during the sitting carrying forward the good governance legislative agenda of the government of the country.

According to recent information, Prime Minister Terrance Drew took to his official Facebook handle to share his greetings while inviting his fellow nationals to attend the meeting through various online portals such as radio and television platforms.

He also shared an overview of the Eight Bills that would be discussed and read during the National Assembly, Sitting along with his fellow ministers.

While emphasizing the significance of the upcoming sitting of the national assembly, Prime Minister noted in his Facebook account caption that “The Government’s good governance legislative agenda continues as it commits itself to accountability, transparency, along with the Rule of Law. Eight Bills will be mentioned in their first reading, and two bills will receive their second reading.”

Furthermore, the updates read that the sitting will be conducted at the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, on Thursday, May 25 2023, at 10:00 am, which a number of top government officials and members will attend.

In addition, it was also reported that the national assembly sitting would see various important bills related to the national concerns which need to be addressed and amended.

In his remarks, PM Drew also stressed that “I will seek to leave to introduce and have read a first time the Bills entitled Smoking (Designated Areas) Bill, 2023; Drugs the focus is on preventing and reducing drug misuse and abuse and Rastafari Rights Recognition Bill, 2023. (Amendment) Bill, 2023.”

Additionally, the reports confirmed that the Attorney General and Minister responsible for Justice and Legal Affairs, the Honourable Garth Wilkin, will seek to leave to introduce and read the first time the Bills entitled Nevis Island Administration (Civil Proceedings) Bill, 2023; Crown Proceedings (Amendment) Bill, 2023; Whistle-blowers Protection Bill, 2023; Unauthorized Disclosure of Official Information Bill, 2023; Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

Prime Minister Terrance Drew further noted that “The Attorney General will also present the second reading of Nevis Island Administration (Civil Proceedings) Bill, 2023; and Crown Proceedings (Amendment) Bill, 2023,”

In the end, PM Drew also stated that during the national assembly meeting, the Cabinet Colleagues would lend support to the Bills and facilitate the people of the Caribbean country to enjoy its benefits.
