Meteorological department of St Kitts and Nevis on Sunday announced the withdrawal of hurricane TS Tammy-related all precautions and measures. This order came in after taking advice from the National Emergency Operation Centre. The meteorological department also thanked all who were involved in the preparation for the Hurricane TS Tammy, with special thanks to the management of the NEMA(National Emergency Management Agency) of St Kitts and Nevis. They also announced the resumption of normal day-to-day activities as well.
It is to be specifically that a few days ago, NEMA had warned against the danger of tropical Hurricane TS Tammy. After the warning, all government schools and offices were ordered to ramain close till further order. Due to storm danger private sector was also advised to exercise extreme caution.
Prime Minister himself held many meetings with the heads of different government organisations for full-fledged preparation against the threat of TS Tammy. Department also advised people to stay at home and take care of the children.
With the closure of government officials and schools, only staff of important offices were allowed to visit the offices. These offices had the task of implementing the preparation against the TS Tammy.
There was apprehension that Tammy could turn into a Hurricane after striking the eastern islands of the Caribbean, and ultimately, it turned into a hurricane.
This announcement by the meteorological department came as the situation became normal.
It is worth mentioning that almost all the countries of the Caribbean region are very vulnerable to climate-related events, including tropical storms or hurricanes etc.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, who was visiting Canada to attend the Canada-CARICOM summit, returned to his home country to take stock of the situation. After returning to the country, he held a meeting with the official and orederd to take all necessary steps for mitigating the negative effects of the storm Tammy.
