Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Terrance Drew extended congratulations to St Vincent and Grenadines on its independence day. PM Drew took to social media on Friday and posted, “I extend heartfelt Congratulations to St Vincent and Grenadines as they celebrate their Independence Day today, October 27, ‘Happy Independence Day “. St Vincent and Grenadines is celebrating its 44th independence day this year.
It is to be specifically mentioned that every year, October 27 is celebrated as Independence Day in St Vincent and Grenadines. Notably, St Vincent and Grenadines were ruled by British colonists for 216 years before gaining independence in October, and independce Day reflected the people’s struggle against the colonial atrocities.
The independence day was celebrated across the whole country. Moreover, this Day was also observed at the embassies of St Vincent and Grenadines located in the different countries.
To celebrate Independence Day, a grand military parade was also organised at Victoria Park. Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves of St Vincent and Grenadines also addressed to nation on this occassion from Victoria Park.
During his address, the Prime Minister of St Vincent and Grenadines also congratulated the citizens of the country and also made 16 special announcements.
Prime Minister Drew also extended best wishes for the progress of St Vincent and Grenadines in future. Dr drew also added that the bilateral relationship between both countries will see new heights in future.
Terrance Drew further stated that all the Caribbean countries share unique cultural, spiritual and social values.
Meanwhile, Bishop Stephen Ollivierre, Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies St. Vincent and the Grenadines District, also congratulated the citizens on the special occasion of independence of the country. He specifically added that as a nation, we should not forsake god’s mercy on our lives and nation.
