Terrance Drew, The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, attended the first session of the Budget consultations, which was held on October 31, 2023. These series of budget consultations are being held under the banner of “Marching Forward on the Journey to Sustainable Island State”.
The objective of the budget consultation is to encourage public interaction with the government as well as to enhance transparency and trust in government functioning.
It is to be specifically mentioned that a few days ago, Prime Minister Terrance Drew announced the holding of a series of debates to make the budget more public-friendly. This was the first of the consultation series. People also appreciated the initiative of the government. According to many people, this will give them the opportunity to share their opinions on a healthy budget, which will take the country to new heights.
After the meeting, PM Drew also said that we appreciate the innovative ideas and valuable feedback received during the budget consultation. He also added that this is the best way to incorporate the opinions, views, and unique solutions of the public. To address the present-day challenge of tiny island nations, the feedback of the people will pave the way for the formation of policies that will bring change in the lives of a large number of citizens.
The PM also added that ” The October 31st session was very productive and useful. The government will try its best to implement all of these valuable suggestions during the budget presentation. He encouraged the public to participate in budget consultation for the better future of the country. Moreover, citizens can also suggest any change in the proposal of government if anything is not suitable”.
During the address, Prime Minister Drew invited the public for the next session of the budget consultation. The next session will be held on November 2 at the Old Road community centre. The Thursday session will be held between 6 PM and 8 PM in the evening.
