St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew spoke to the first Kittitian cricketer Mikyle Louis and extended his wishes for getting selected in the West Indies Cricket Team for the test squad.
PM Drew mentioned that he is not the first one to get selected from the federation but he is the first Kittitian.
While congratulating the cricketer, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis said that they all wish him well and much success. His admiration towards the team is significant and means a lot to the people.
He highlighted that the cricketer is a great example for the young people and especially for the young men.
Mikyle Louis is an exceptionally a promising right-handed batsman from the St. Kitts. His selection marks a historic moment as Louis’ debut in the upcoming test series is against the arch rivals England.
It will be for the first time that a player from St. Kitts has made it to the Senior West Indies side. St. Kitts and Nevis stands proud with his selection to the Test Side.
Considerably, Louis’ selection follows a domineering performance is his maiden West Indies First Class tournament, while he’ll be playing for the Leeward Islands Hurricanes.
Notably, he accumulated 682 runs, over 14 innings, at an average of 48.71. His impressive run tally includes three centuries with two of those centuries coming in a single match at his home ground, Warner Park, early in the tournament.
Additionally, Louis was one of only three players to score four or more half-centuries, underlining his consistency and skill.
Mikyle’s achievement not only highlights his remarkable talent but also marks a significant milestone for cricket in St. Kitts, inspiring the young athletes and demonstrating the potential for future success on the international stage.

Minister of Sports Samal Duggins also made a statement in praise of the cricketer and said that this is a monumental achievement and underscores the tenacity, perseverance and hard work that Mikyle has been putting in over the years.
The Minister added that this is also a blueprint for the young cricketers to follow about how to overcome adversity en-route to excellence. He emphasised that this is an indication that the increased thrust in cricket by the labour government is yielding fruit.
Duggins also hinted at several initiatives in the pipeline that aims to increase the brand equity of local cricket. Whereas, Nevis has had several representatives on the West Indies senior side, which marks the first time representative from the sister island of St. Kitts.
The Sports Minister also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mikyle Louis while celebrating the significant milestone for both the player and the nation.
