St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and the other members of the St. Kitts and Nevis delegation have arrived safely in the Republic of China (Taiwan). There all the official delegates were warmly welcomed at the airport by the country’s Foreign Minister and the Ambassador of the Federation to Taiwan – Donya Francis.

A brief discussion was held between the St. Kitts and Nevis officials and Minister Wu on future cooperation in areas that include agriculture, technology, health and others.

The official delegations included Premier of Nevis – Mark Brantley, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs – Dr. Denzil Douglas, Cabinet Secretary – Dr. Marcus Natta, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office – Naeemah Hazelle, Special Envoy for Health Care – Dr. Frank Laws and Director (Ag) of the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS) – Sherema Matthew and First Lady – Diani Jimesha Prince-Drew. Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to S. Kitts and Nevis – Michael Lin also travelled with the delegates.

On his arrival at the Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan, The Prime Minister addressed the media on strengthening the Bilateral Relations. He reached Taiwan on June 22, 2024 morning, where he addressed and emphasised on enduring the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The Prime Minister stated that he took this opportunity to convey the warmest greetings from the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis and the steadfast friends and partners in the international development.

While addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Drew highlighted the strong and fruitful diplomatic relations that were formed between the St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan, since the twin-island federation got independent in 1983.

PM Drew noted that today, they stand on a solid foundation of diplomatic engagement which has resulted in practical and tangible solutions to many of the challenges that they faced as one of the smallest nations in the world.

Prime Minister reaffirmed his nation’s unwavering support for Taiwan, and especially in advocating for its increased inclusion in international fora. He emphasised that they firmly believe that Taiwan has much to contribute in addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues, such as healthcare, economics, agriculture, industry, culture or overall development.

Dr. Terrance Drew touched on the remarkable progress and innovations that were achieved by the Taiwan, since his previous visit in 2022. It highlighted the commitment to deepen the collaboration and learning from Taiwan’s rich experience in building a resilient and dynamic economy.

The primary goal of the visit was to explore new avenues for co-operation and to exchange ideas on development strategies that can benefit both the nations.

Considering this, PM Drew expressed his enthusiasm for the discussions and engagements planned during the visit, emphasising the importance of the events and the warm reception received. He conveyed anticipation for productive interactions and significant outcomes throughout the stay.

The State visit, will be observed from June 20 to 27, 2024 that aims to bolster the bilateral ties and explore the new avenues of cooperation between the St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.
