St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew recently visited to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with Prime Minister Gonsalves and all other fellow Prime Ministers of the OECS.
Reportedly, the visit of Prime Minister Drew was initiated to assess the destruction which was caused by Hurricane Beryl.
PM Drew grabbed the opportunity to click the pictures while flying over the Union Island, as pure devastation. He mentioned that they will continue to stand together in solidarity with the brothers and sisters in the affected islands.
Considering the rapid change in the climate conditions, Prime Minister Drew expressed that the Climate change is here and it is a clear message for all of them that they must get prepare for it and do it now.
He further explained that they have started the preparedness and will continue to do so. He also urged to come together as a people and a country for anything happening eventually.
The visit paid by PM Drew led to an objective of assessing the level of destruction which was caused by the Category-04 natural calamity. Other ministers who conjoined him were the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia – Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of Dominica – Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda – Gaston Browne and Premier of Cayman Islands – Juliana O’Connor-Connolly
As per the reports, Hurricane Beryl caused much destruction to island that led to thousands of getting homeless and also reported a death.
Notably, the visit was observed on Tuesday and remarked it as pure devastation.
Previously, PM Drew with all other co-leaders went to meet the Prime Minister of Grenada – Dickon Mitchell, last week. The purpose of visit was to assess the affected and impacted regions, which were the victim of Hurricane Beryl. The leaders expressed that they are with Grenada and support it in any possible ways. They expressed their assistance in all the ways that affected the islands.
It was a highly recognisable effort that highlighted the strength and resilience of the Caribbean Community as they work together to reprimand and support each other in the time of need.
