St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew travelled to the Nevis Island, to participate in and enjoy the ‘Culturama 50 J’ouvert’. He visited to the sister isle to attend an interactive meeting with so many people and had fun.
At the Culturama, PM Drew met with the people and interacted with them. The Culturama 50 is organised to preserve the Nevis’ rich cultural heritage by the hosting of Culturama.
By doing this, it is hoped that one day Culturama would be able to compete with other leading regional and international festivals and will be able to bring tremendous economic benefits to the island.
Reportedly, the Nevis Culturama consisted of various events which were conducted from July 04, 2024 to August 06, 2024. It followed the theme ‘Celebrating Culture, Embracing History, It’s Culturama 50!’
The Culturama events were classified into two sections first ‘Core Events’ and second ‘Fringe Events’. Where the core events were held from July 04 to August 06, the fringe events are observed from July 04, 2024 to August 10, 2024.
Culturama is rooted in the vibrant history of Nevis. The festival traces its origins back to 1974 when it was first conceived to commemorate the island’s emancipation from slavery.
Over the decades, it has evolved into a grand celebration of Nevisian identity served as a testament to the resilience and creativity represented by its people. As they all commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2024, the festival stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Nevis.
