St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew conducted an online meeting via Zoom, to extend his wishes to the Development Bank St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) St. Peter’s FC, for their success in the recent football game against SL Horsford St. Pauls UTD.
At present, PM Drew is on personal leave but has still taken out sometime to speak with DBSKN St. Peter Football Club. While extending his wishes, the prime minister said that even though he is on personal leave, he took the time out to speak with DBSKN St. Peter’s FC via zoom call in the afternoon, in order to wish them success in tonight’s soccer game.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew further expressed that he is asking all those who are able to attend the game to go out and give their full support. He encouraged the players to be their best on and off the field, and play with all their heart, keeping in mind the winning spirit.
Earlier, in March 2024, PM Dr. Terrance Drew announced the collaboration between the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis and St Peter’s Football Club. During the extension of the grant, Drew expressed his happiness and said that the partnership is significant as it will foster the sports sector in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Along with providing resources to the club, the DBSKN has also assisted the young athletes with new opportunities. While making the donation, the financial institution pledged to extend its support to the club as part of its commitment to nurture the sports talent and foster the community development throughout the Federation by contributing to various programs.
In a previously held ceremony, the Bank presented the club with EC $30,000 to assist all divisions within the club.
Dr. Terrance Drew as a Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for the St. Peters area, addressed the gathering and highlighted that the partnership forms a part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance communities across the Federation through sports and games.
Drew stressed majorly over the significance of the community involvement, youth empowerment and sports development, emphasizing more on the communities thrive when they engaged with one another, invested in the youth and provided avenues for their growth and development.
The prime minister added that sports, especially football, plays a pivotal role in achieving their objectives. Sports are more than just games, they are the vehicles for personal development, health promotion and national pride.
