St. Kitts and Nevis has officially launched its state-of-the-art passport system. It marks a major advancement in national security as part of the 4th Generation Border Management System of the government.
Considering this, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew received the first high-security passport that is designed to protect the citizens. It also secure national borders with multiple anti-counterfeit features.
PM Drew shared a photograph of him while receiving the passport on his official social media handle. He said that they now have one of the most advanced passports in the world, with the launch of the new state-of-the-art passport system.
Reportedly, the new machine-readable passports feature cutting-edge technology designed to strengthen security and streamline border management. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of National Security and Canadian Bank Note. These are trustworthy partners and are providing the advanced technological support.
According to PM Drew, it is a key component of the modernization strategy, which is enhancing the national security while positioning the St. Kitts and Nevis as a regional leader in the technological innovation.
During his visit to the Passport Office on Nov 11, 2024, Prime Minister Drew noted the broader vision behind the new passport. He cleared that the initiative is a cornerstone in the plan to modernize St. Kitts and Nevis.
He emphasized that by integrating the latest technology, they have enhanced the security measures by positioning themselves as a leader in the region.
PM Drew added further that the passport protects the borders and also reflects the readiness to embrace a digital future.
Notably, the enhanced passport system reflects a concerted team effort. Drew mentioned that the new system will allow St. Kitts and Nevis to maintain a high standard of security by joining the ranks of the top Caribbean nations in passport technology.
Dr. Drew also stated that by implementing cutting-edge technologies, they can manage who should be allowed to enter the country, can ensure safety and efficiency for all.
The newly launched passports are designed to withstand tampering, also making them among the most secure in the Caribbean region.
However, the modernization effort is lined-up with the strategic plan of the government to transform St. Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island state with the latest technology as a key component.
