St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew acknowledged the Minister of Tourism Marsha T. Henderson and her team on their achievement as Ministry of Tourism is set to mark a milestone to welcome one million passengers in 2024.
PM Drew, who has recently returned from Florida, shared photographs of him and the Ministry of Tourism team during the trip.
Along with the pictures he wrote a note and expressed that he had just returned from Florida, where he joined Marsha T. Henderson and her team. He also shared that during the trip they met with the cruise executives.
PM Drew also mentioned that they are strengthening the tourism product as they prepare to welcome more than one million passengers during cruise season 2024-25.
Reportedly, at a press conference that held recently, Minister of Tourism – Marsha T. Henderson announced that the tourism industry of St. Kitts and Nevis is poised to achieve a historic milestone.
The upcoming projection reflects the sustained commitment of the Ministry towards growth, innovation and collaboration within the tourism sector.
According to the ministers, it is a remarkable projection that signifies a 22% increase in arrivals of the passengers. Compared to the previous season, it is a testament to the strategic initiatives undertaken by Minister Henderson, since she assumed the office.
Under her leadership, the Ministry has advanced numerous initiatives to make St. Kitts a premier Caribbean destination which is renowned for its cultural authenticity. The Ministry welcomed hospitality and commitment to sustainability.
Furthermore, the increased projection is the result of concerted efforts to enhance the cruise infrastructure of St. Kitts and diversify tourism offerings, by fostering stronger partnerships with global cruise operators.
The vision of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is to create a sustainable island state, that the Ministry of Tourism has prioritized and measured to ensure that the tourism benefits seasonal highs and reach all corners of the community.
Minister Henderson emphasized that the Ministry is actively promoting sustainable practices across the tourism sector. It is demonstrated by the recent signing of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism.
Their pledge aligns with the Sustainable Island State Agenda of the Federation and seeks to reduce carbon footprint of the tourism, while preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage for future generations of the St. Kitts and Nevis.
