St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew acknowledged the ASPIRE program and said that it is a game-changer. He highlighted the potential of the program to disrupt generational cycles of poverty and promote economic independence, at the roundtable meeting held on Nov 20, 2024.
PM Drew shared through his official social media handle that Cable will assist with enrolling children in the ASPIRE program from Monday, Nov 25, 2024, to Friday, Nov 29, 2024. He mentioned that under ASPIRE, each child aged between 5-18 will receive $1,000 to start their account and begin investing.
He urged the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis to sign up their children and make valuable step towards securing their financial future.
Reportedly, the innovative ASPIRE program has reached a significant milestone, with 367 young participants, who are already receiving accounts seeded with $1,000 each. Launched by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis, it is a transformative initiative which has equipped children aged 5 and 18 with the financial tools and knowledge that are needed to secure a brighter future.
The ASPIRE program is designed mainly to instill the habits among kids of saving and investing early. However, ASPIRE aligns with the efforts of government to create a more equitable and prosperous society.
Considering this, PM Drew said in the roundtable meeting that the ASPIRE program is a game-changer. It empowers the youth to build a financial foundation early, by fostering independence and economic resilience.
PM Drew highlighted that it is not just an investment in individuals but in the future of the nation. He added that since its launch, ASPIRE has garnered interest of all with 1,710 applications, received as of now.
The program is open to all eligible children, regardless of their socio-economic background, that reflects the commitment of the government to inclusivity.
