St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew along with Sports Minister Samal Duggins observed the annual J’ouvert morning celebration. The event was held under the ongoing Sugar Mas 53 carnival.
PM Drew also shared the glimpses from his visit on his official Facebook handle and expressed that he had a great time and interacted with the people of St. Kitts and Nevis during the annual J’ouvert morning celebration.
He also encouraged the residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to visit and continue enjoying the carnival. The Prime Minister stated that he wants to encourage everyone to continue enjoying the season in a safe and respectful manner.

Minister of Sports Samal Duggins also attended the annual J’ouvert celebration and expressed that it can happen only in St. Kitts and Nevis, celebrating Christmas for one day and turning up for Boxing Day J’ouvert the next day. According to the Minister there’s only one place to be and that is Sugar Mas 53.

Reportedly, the Sugar Mas 53 carnival commenced on Saturday, Dec 14, 2024, with the very first event Soca Monarch at the Carnival Village. The annual fest is organized to celebrate the rich culture and tradition of the twin island St. Kitts and Nevis.
The annual carnival officially began to hold its events from Dec 23, 2024, and will be observed till Jan 03, 2025. The J’ouvert and the Road March competitions are also a part of the events that are being held in Sugar Mas 53.
