St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew extended greetings for New Year 2025 to the citizens and residents of the twin island. He took this opportunity to wish them all the luck and good health in the coming year ahead.
While extending the wishes, PM Drew urged the citizens to continue focusing on growth and sustainability. He added that may this year bring joy, good health as well as peace and prosperity.
The Prime Minister advised the citizens to maintain unity, resilience and progress in 2025. He also emphasized the importance of challenges faced in the last year and to look ahead towards a promising future.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis said that as they bid farewell to 2024, he invites all to reflect on how far they have come. He embraced the promise of the year ahead with open hearts and declared it as the year of recovery.
According to PM Drew, it is a year that will build upon collective resilience. It is also a year of the seeds they planted and will bear the fruits and a year of empowering progress towards a stronger and brighter St. Kitts and Nevis.
Dr. Drew also highlighted the trials that were faced in 2024 and included rising costs and economic uncertainty. He was confident that the initiatives taken by the government played a crucial role in steering the nation towards recovery.
In the new year address, PM Drew emphasized the historic investment of $320 million made by the government to support essential subsidies and social programmes. He added that with this investment they have protected electricity prices, households and also businesses from crushing energy burdens.
The Prime Minister added that all these are part of the efforts made by the government to manage the rising threats of the cost of living and the international inflation crisis that are affecting almost all of them.
Moreover, looking for the future, Dr. Drew has laid out a vision encapsulated by the 2025 agenda and much focused on economic diversification and sustainability.
Along with this, St. Kitts and Nevis is investing in renewable energy, agriculture, tourism and the creative economy too. These initiatives will provide opportunities for entrepreneurs, framers, as well as artisans and young people to polish their talent and will also help them in achieving financial independence.
PM Drew acknowledged the youth and mentioned that they are the heartbeat of the Federation. Programmes such as Aspire and Elevate are creating better opportunities for the youth of St. Kitts and Nevis to save, to learn and to earn.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis stated that the administration is also working on fostering the culture of education, financial literacy and skill development. He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the opportunities as well steering clear of crime and violence.
He further stated that together they will recover from past inequities, will thrive, will build a stronger and more resilient St. Kitts and Nevis. This will build a nation that stands tall and proud amongst the global community.
