St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited to Deane-Glasford Primary School to celebrate the 25th Anniversary, since its name was changed. He returned to his alma mater to mark its silver jubilee and attended a special assembly, recognizing the achievement, on Tuesday, Jan 28, 2025.
Reportedly, the milestone conquered by the Deane-Glasford Primary School was observed under the theme – ‘Celebrating 25 Years of Shaping Minds, Changing Lives, and Inspiring Greatness’.
Moreover, the special assembly organized by the school members for the celebration featured poetry and renditions. It also considered remarks by the officials including Prime Minister Drew, who was a former student of the school.
At the event, PM Drew was conjoined by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education – Dr. Geoffrey Hanley. Together they reflected on the cherished memories and honoured the past and present staff and educators there, inspiring students to strive for excellence.
Considering the celebration, PM Drew stated his remarks and acknowledged the school by saying, “You’re not just from St. Peter’s, you’re from the Great State of St. Peter’s!”
Prime Minister Terrance Drew also shared the glimpses from this gleeful celebration on his official social media handle and presented his gratitude.
Dr. Drew expressed that he was glad to recount his pupil days and said, “Yesterday, I had the distinct pleasure of being invited to recount my days as a student at Deane-Glasford Primary School during a special assembly commemorating the 25th anniversary of the school’s name change.”
Notably, Deane-Glasford Primary School has served the people of St. Peter’s in very extraordinary way and has excelled well. The school has boasted many prominent alumni who contributed to national development at various levels.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis also asked the residents to join him and extend their wishes to the school in continuing its success on the significant anniversary celebration.
Reminiscing the time well spent at the school, PM Drew highlighted that he entered the school in the early 1980s, when the school was not as big then, as one could imagine it now. He added, for all the time he spent here, he remembers the great teachers who taught him.
Dr. Drew enlightened all that even though life then was a bit more challenging than now, the teachers were dedicated to them. They would not have become what they are today if it were not the teachers. “I would like to recognise our teachers who, through those years, stuck with us and believed in us,” remarked the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis.
