St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has officially launched CT scan services at JNF General Hospital on March 03, 2025. The launch ceremony marked a historic milestone in healthcare services for the twin-island nation.
With the launch of state-of-the-Art 128-slice CT Scan services, the St. Kitts and Nevis federation aims to provide the access to cutting-edge medical technology to the residents.

PM Drew shared the glimpses from his visit to the hospital and said that the visit marks a momentous occasion with injector of the state-of-the-art 128-slice CT scan, that was launched at JNF General Hospital. The machine is capable of diagnosing major health problems such as heart disease, colon disease and strokes among many other ailments.
Addition of the new CT scanner at the hospital forms part of the commitment by the St. Kitts and Nevis government to ensure that the citizens have access to modern medical facilities under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew.

PM Terrance Drew highlighted that for the very first time, the government owns such a critical and necessary piece of medical equipment. He extended his gratitude to the Special Envoy for health and the Leadership at the Ministry of Health – Dr. Frank Laws for supporting them in bringing this machine to the hospital.
Considering the launch of CT scan services, PM Drew as a Minister of Health also visited the MRI facility, where the construction is expected to be completed soon. There, he was accompanied by the Attorney General – Garth Wilkin.

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew stated that MRI services are expected to commence by the August 2025 and will be the first and foremost publicly owned and most advanced MRI in St. Kitts and Nevis. He also mentioned that the people will no longer have to go to the biomedical center, which is also known as the monkey farm.
Moreover, the MRI is a state-of-the-art piece of medical equipment that uses imaging process to diagnose diseases. Once completed, this will be the first public MRI service available in St. Kitts and Nevis, which will significantly enhance the imaging services for all the citizens.
As per the sources, the facility will not only support the routine diagnostic needs but will also play a vital role in detecting the diseases early and specially in the management of chronic conditions, which will ultimately improve health outcomes for the people.
PM Drew further noted that the CT Scan machine will play a pivotal role in observing the broader goal of the government to upgrade the Hospital facilities and achieve accreditation. He explained that the investment in healthcare infrastructure is part of the journey towards becoming an accredited institution.
He emphasized more on how the Ministry of Health is tackling the challenges from all perspectives, whether it is physical equipment, human resource development or customer service.
