A German national based man and Kenyan woman staying in Nairobi became the first two winners of the Dubai Duty-free Millionaire promotion held in 2022.
A 67-year-old German man, Rolf Hartung, bought the ticket online on December 17, 2021.
The man belongs to Dubai and has lived in Dubai for the past 20 years, and a father of two who works with Al Zahra Hospital.
According to the ex-pat, he always purchased tickets offline whenever he travelled. But, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, you cannot travel unnecessarily; he started buying tickets online.
From his point of view, “This is not the news which gives only happiness but also gives joy. I’m delighted, and I never thought I would win one day.” He also thanked Dubai…..and said what a great start to 2022.
The Millennium Millionaire promotion started in 1999, and since the start of this promotion, Hartung has been the seventh German national man who has been winning $1 million.
The Kenyan, Tajinder Dhanjal, had also purchased her winning ticket online. They have been the regular participants of Dubai Duty-Free’s promotion for ten years now. Dhanjal is a housewife and mother of two kids.
She said, “this is the real blessing to me by God, and I cannot explain how much I appreciate this.”
Dhanjal’s is the third Kenyan national who won the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire since in 1999.
Another winner of the Finest Surprise draw, Hashem Almousawi, a 63-year-old Kuwaiti national based in Mansouriya, won a Mercedez Benz. S500.
Parkash Lakshmanan, a 34-year-old Indian national based in Sharjah, won a motorbike named Aprilia Tuono 660.
Another man named Rajeshwar Padkanti, an Indian national based in the UAE, also won the motorbike name Indian Chief motorbike.
Saleh Al Shawa, a 50-year-old Jordanian national-based who lived in Dubai, won a BMW R1250 R motorbike.
