Dubai: As per local media, one Kuwaiti man has been arrested for brutally raping 24 years old Egyptian woman in the Al Salimi desert.
As per the sources, the suspect first acted to be the son of a member of the National Assembly before raping the victim.
Upon his arrest, police knew that he already had a criminal history and was blamed for theft, robbery and drug abuse.
As per the Kuwaiti Penal Code, rape considers a crime against glory, placing women and girls as vessels of honour rather than acknowledging their human right to bodily integrity and sexual freedom.
Article (186) of the Criminal Code (1960), criminalises rape as well as offensive charge. Meanwhile, Articles 191 and 192 of the Penal Code (1960) define a prison penalty of up to 10 years or more than 15 years for sexual harassment, where the crime was committed with hate, danger or scam.
Although, Article 182 of the Penal Code (1960) exempts rapists and/or kidnappers from punishment if they marry their victim with their guardian’s permission.
Kuwait’s rape rate was at the level of 4.1 cases per 100,000 population in 2009, down from 4.4 cases per 100,000 population the previous year; this is a change of 6.98%. The definition is composed by our digital data assistant.
There is no doubt that Kuwait has a low rate of crime. Incidents of violent crime against foreign citizens are extremely uncommon. The country is a destination point for men and women who migrate legally from South and Southeast Asia for domestic or low-skilled labour.
