Egypt: The MCIT (Ministry of Communication and Information Technology) Minister Amr Talaat has updated that he attended the inauguration ceremony and opened the new smart village post office in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday, December 21.

Egypt: The MCIT (Ministry of Communication and Information Technology) Minister Amr Talaat has updated that he attended the inauguration ceremony and opened the new smart village post office in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday, December 21.  

At the opening ceremony, MCIT Minister Amr Talaat stated that the inaugurated new smart village post office would be dedicated to providing the highest level of financial, postal, and government services along with all the assistance regarding digital services to the residents of Egypt. The post office was set up in the country’s capital, Cairo, on December 21 2022.

Following the opening of the office, Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, conveyed that the new “Smart Village” post office is equipped with all the latest technology and services at the highest level in the Egyptian community Building.

The MCIT Minister, Amr Talaat, also cited that the smart village post office is equipped with the latest systems and technological solutions to provide all financial and postal services and Government and Egypt digital services for citizens.

Furthermore, the opening ceremony of the post office was accompanied by the Chairman of the Council of Egyptian Postal Administration, Sharif Farouk. 

The officials stated that the Smart Village initiative comes within the association and framework of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Moreover, the MCIT Ministry aims to direct its vision to develop the Egyptian Post Office and expand its branches across the country by creating and setting up suitable professionals in the offices at the highest level and equipped with the latest technologies to provide exceptional services to citizens.

The MCIT Minister, Amr Talaat, further added that along with creating new post offices in places that need postal services.

The idea of mobile offices to pay with during peak periods has been revived as pensions, and the creation of post kiosks has also been restored.

On his part, Amr Talaat pointed out in his statement the magnifying role of the post office in providing vital services that are of interest to the Egyptian citizen, which will assist them in their day-to-day traits.

The Smart Village post office has become a key outlet for implementing various services, be it governmental, postal services or financial inclusion services. 

Every service provided by the post office will be monitored closely by the government bodies and the MCIT Minister.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Post Authority, Sharif Farouk, explained that the opening of the Smart Village Post Office works towards the implementation of the strategic Egyptian Post Plan.

The plan also includes the setting up developed and fully functioning post offices to meet customer demands and wishes.

The smart village post office offers a dynamic design and built-in Eco-Friendly and energy-saving systems along with mechanisms that hold the colours and reflects modern designs while maintaining the true identity of Egyptian Post.

The post offices in the smart villages focus on providing an ideal environment for its customers, employees and professionals. 

The MCIT minister also conveyed that the place will be supported and monitored for further additions and changes in the system.  

Ministry of Communication and Information Technology also explained the dimensions of the newly inaugurated post office as it holds a space of 120 square meters, 

and it has three windows that are equipped to provide all postal services, digital Egypt services and furnished with two P.O.S. machines, 

as well as two ITM ATMs and an interactive A.T.M. device considered an independent post office that provides all financial and non-financial and governmental financial services to the citizen.

As per the recent updates, the machine supports braille services and voice direction to enable the visually impaired and the blind to utilize the services. 

The machine also contains an earphone, a speaker and a recording camera that allows the customer to instantly communicate with the postal customer service officer for inquiries and Implementing transactions, including I.D. card readers, signature and card issuance devices, Electronic as non-financial services or provision of services that require verification of beneficiary identity.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Post offers many e-government services whereby through the post office, such as, 

  • Citizens can pay for traffic violations, 
  • Extract birth certificates 
  • Family imprisonment, 
  • Marriage, divorce and death certificates, 
  • Renew national number cards
  • Pay electricity bills, water, gas, and other financial and postal services.
