Pakistan: Abdul Rehman Makki, a Pakistan-based terrorist, has been listed as a Global terrorist by the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) on Monday night. Abdul Makki was listed as a global threat under the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al Qaida Sanctions Committee.
As per the information, Abdul Rehman Makki shares a relative connection with the chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hafiz Saeed, as he is the brother-in-law of Saeed, who was involved in the planning and execution of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks with the help of ISI.
In addition, the listing of Makki as a global terrorist directly benefits India along with the international stand of the world against terrorism.
During the listing, China had to take action under the enforcement of UNSC’s ISIL (Da’esh) and Al Qaida Sanctions Committee and lift the technical hold in his defence.
The reports have stated that previously the enlistment of Makki was not taking place, even after the joint bids by India and the United States, as China put a technical hold in June 2022.
China’s government was persistently challenging the incumbent government to make sure associated countries remained in favour for the last six months.
Furthermore, Pakistan has been misleading the United States in terms of Pakistan’s commitment to eliminate terror. In addition, a bounty of $2 million has also been placed on the head of Makki by the US State’s Department Rewards for Justice programme.
In November 2010, Makki was also listed as a Specially Designated Global terrorist by the US treasury.
Abdul Rehman Makki is recognized as the terror mastermind whose connection and roots with the terrorist organizations have affected the territories of Jammu and Kashmir in a deeply adverse manner.
The peace and stability have been disturbed by the terror activities performed by Makki in J&K. Said reports.
Moreover, The political affairs department of the Lashkar-e-Taiba is also led by Abdul Makki, as he is also the deputy chief of the terrorist group.
The main task and motive behind the department’s activities are recruiting and radicalizing youth into the terrorist group and leading them into bloodshed and a life of violence.
Makki was also involved in attacks previously executed on minorities in Pakistan through kidnappings and forced conversions. As per the sources, Makki played a huge role in planning and conducting terror attacks in India at different places such as,
Red Fort Attack on December 22, 2000; Rampur CRPF Camp attack on New Year’s Day in 2008; Karan Nagar (Srinagar) attack on February 12-13, 2018; Khanpora (Baramulla) attack on May 2018, along with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks
