EAA Chairman Abu Sunnah meets EA Chairman Abdullah Amri of Oman, discuss environment issues

Egypt: The Executive Chairman of the Environmental Affairs Agency, Dr Ali Abu Sunnah, met with the Chairman of the Environment Authority in the Sultanate of Oman, Dr Abdullah bin Ali Al-Amri and discussed major environmental issues of the cooperation among their respective nations.

As per the information, the Representative of the Egyptian Environment Ministry, along with Minister Yasmin Fouad, is on tour to Oman for the ongoing Environmental Sustainability Conference, on the side-lines of which,

the Executive Chairman of the Environmental Affairs Agency and the Chairman of the Environment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman discuss several environmental issues of cooperation.

In addition, the meeting was held between spokespersons of the environment ministries under the presence of the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, environmental experts, and Dr Ambassador Khaled Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to the Sultanate of Oman and the leaders of the Ministry of Environment.

Furthermore, the Egyptian Executive Chairman of Environmental Affairs stated that he represented the Minister of Health, Yasmin Fouad, during the meeting, which was opened by Yazan bin Haitham bin Tariq Al-Saeed, Minister of Culture and for sports and youth in the Sultanate of Oman. The sister, and in the presence of many public figures and leaders interested in environmental issues from the Arab world.

During the meeting, Abu sunnah praised the relations that bind the Egyptian people with the Omani people, appreciated the good organization and the great effort to make this important conference a success, and emphasized the Egyptian Ministry of Environment welcoming the permanent cooperation and coordination with the Sultanate of Oman in the field of environment.

Moreover, the two parties shed light on the number of important environmental issues that need to be considered and resolved between nations through joint association. 

Chairman Abu Sunnah further added that the issues are important to address as both countries can cooperate and exchange experiences, including the case of climate change, nature reserves, environmental awareness and ways to raise climate environmental awareness among various segments of society.

‘’The meeting also touched on several environmental art topics, including new and renewable energy, green energy, hydrogen and investment’’. Said reports. Meanwhile, the two parties agreed to organize a visit of a delegation from the Omani Environment Authority to the Egyptian Ministry of Environment,

and in the coming period, work will be done to activate cooperation through the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries in June in Muscat, representing cooperation in several fields.

The authorities also reported that the cooperation between both nations involves environmental planning of various projects, environmental impact assessment, and management of Coastal areas and marine environment conservation, biodiversity and rehabilitation of ecosystems, and integrated management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste of all types.

In the end, the spokespersons of both Oman and Egyptian Environment Ministries concluded that the cooperation between the two countries also includes the areas of training, education, environmental awareness, 

environmental project development, disaster and environmental crisis management, technology and innovation in eco-friendly projects, ecological economies and environmental project investment.
