Egypt: The Minister of Health and Population, Dr Khaled Abdul Ghaffar, has participated in the first meeting of the Committee on the Improvement of the Conditions of Doctors, formed by Resolution 116 of 2023.
On his part, he affirmed the importance of the role of the Committee “Study on Improving the Conditions of Doctors” along with the keenness to improve the situation of all health workers.
In addition, the meeting was aimed at participating and exchanging views to come up with recommendations to improve the healthy working environment from the «technical, administrative, social and financial» aspects to ensure the preservation of the rights of all doctors.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Khaled Abdul-Ghaffar, emphasized the importance of this Committee, which represents experts and those concerned with the situation of doctors, to discuss ways and means of improving the situation of Egyptian doctors.
Meanwhile, he further emphasized that committees are being formed to study the improvement of the condition of the whole health team “dentists, pharmacists, members of the nursing board, physical therapy practitioners” as a key component of the system Healthcare, plus the management staff of health workers.
Furthermore, Dr Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population and the spokesperson of the Committee noted that the meeting aimed at discussing the most important challenges facing doctors, which lead to improving the financial situation, as well as a review of a number of stimulus packages.
The President of the Republic, Abdul Fattah El-Sisi, approved the initiative, which includes increasing the risk allowance of medical professionals. And double the emergency stimulus, double the onset and bed allowance, said reports.
Abdul Ghaffar said that the representatives of the youth of the Medical Union talked about the challenges that may face assigned doctors, including lack of administrative experience and lack of adequate training in primary care units before receiving the assignment, which the Minister handed over to Dr Hussein Khaled, Chairman of the Medical Sector Committee in the Supreme Council of Universities.
Moreover, to include training periods of excellence doctors, Spending appropriate periods of training in primary care units, as Dr Ala Khairallah, Head of Research and Training Sector in the Ministry, in coordination and participation with stakeholders, launching an electronic application that includes all the answers and inquiries needed by authorized doctors.
Abdul Ghaffar further noted that the meeting discussed problems related to the irregularity of payment of higher education fees to universities, where the Minister urged to strongly reactivate the ministerial decision to bear the Ministry of Health and Population all the tuition expenses of the “Master, PhD” for doctors nominated by the ministry.
Abdul Ghaffar added that the meeting included a discussion of the medical liability law, where committee members agreed on the importance of the law, the need to urgently deal with all legal and constitutional notices related to the law, and coordinate with all concerned parties to reach disciplined legal formulations to achieve the objectives of the law, in securing the rights of the health team, and patients, without being vaccinated by unconstitutionality.
