Egypt: The Minister of Culture, Egypt, Nevine Al Kilani, stated regarding the commencement of the Chinese-Egyptian National Concert at Pyramids of Giza yesterday, April 3rd, 2023. 

The event was held under the supervision and presence of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Monuments, the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Egypt.

As per the updates, the Chinese-Egyptian National Concert was organized at the Sound and Light Theatre in the Pyramids of Giza, on the margin of the visit of Mr Hu Heping, the Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism to Egypt, which is The Chinese minister’s first visit outside China since the coronavirus crisis after easing travel restrictions on China.

In addition, the concert was attended by the Minister of Culture and Tourism for China, Hu Heping and Minister of Culture Egypt, Nevine Al-Kilani, alongside Mr Ghada Shalabi, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Archaeology, Mr Amr Al-Qadhi, Executive Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activism.

Along with Ambassador Liao Lichhang, the Ambassador of China in Cairo, and a number of leaders of the Ministry of Tourism, Archaeology, the Board and the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, as well The official delegation accompanies the Chinese minister during his visit to Egypt.

The reports have confirmed that the ceremony was attended by more than 300 guests from the Egyptian and Chinese sides, including a number of politicians and public figures, representatives of the Egyptian tourism sector, some Egyptian tourism companies working in the Chinese market and a number of Chinese tourists currently visiting Cairo and the body invited them.

Furthermore, the delegation from the State of China, which included 22 tour organizers, was also invited along with the representatives of the Chinese Tourism Services Organization, who are currently being hosted by the authority, to make an introductory visit to a number of tourist destinations in Egypt, in cooperation with the Cultural and Tourism Bureau of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt.

“The festival featured the Traditional Chinese National Orchestra, one of China’s most important and largest official musical bands. In addition to the participation of an Egyptian band, the Chinese Orchestra played a set of Egyptian and Chinese melodies, as well as several Chinese folklore tunes,” said the Minister of Culture, Nevine Al Kilani.

On his part, Mr Amr Al-Qadi, the Executive Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, noted that the organization of this concert, which came in cooperation with the Chinese side, reflects the depth of tourism and cultural relations between the two countries and highlights a great aspect of the similarities between Egyptian culture, civilization and its Chinese counterpart.

He also noted the musical show that was held. Its presentation today also reflected how close and similar the many instruments used by Chinese bands and their example used by Arab and Oriental music bands in Egypt and the Arab homeland are.

The ceremony will contribute greatly to promoting Egypt’s tourism in the Chinese market, one of Egypt’s most important tourism markets explained. He added that the ceremony was chosen to be held in the Pyramids of Giza, an icon of Egyptian tourism, especially in light of the Chinese tourist’s passion for ancient Egyptian civilization.

Notably, a professional workshop is scheduled to be organized tomorrow with the presence of Mr Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Archaeology, and Mr Hu Heping, Culture and Tourism Minister, with the participation of several Egyptian and Chinese tourism companies, hotel facilities and Chinese tour organizers to explore ways to increase tourism exchange between the two countries.
