Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah (united arab emirates ), visited the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman on September 27, 2023.
He was accompanied by Dr Abdullah bin Naseer Ali Harris, minister of information. Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi appreciated the Management of museum.
Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and the delegation accompanying him toured the museum and its different corridors.
In the museum, he listened to detailed explanations about the museum. The museum, containing halls and corridors, highlighted the important historical aspects and civilization of the Sultanate of Oman.
He also visited the most notable Hall of Earth and Hall of Maritime History of museum to understand the facts covered by these dedicated halls deeply.
Here in the Hall of Earth and hall of maritime, Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi viewed many collections that established historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
This set the collection includes a curved sword, which was given as a gift in the year 2004, and a model of Qasr Hosn in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, gifted in the year 1999 on the historical moment of demarcation of the border between Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also looked at a group of drawings drawn by Captain Charles Golding, an artist. The drawings belong to the 19th century. Otheres drawing were selected from the book “16 Scenes of Places in the Persian Gulf between 1809 and 1810.
It is to be mentioned that some of these drawings also depicted the history of English attacks on Ras Khaimah and Shinas by Lieutenant Richard Temple (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland ) dating back to 1813.
Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also got information about wrecks of sunken ships from Vasco da Gama’s fleet. The ruler of Sharjah, during his visit to the museum, also viewed the documents dating the Omani fleet during the reign of Sultan Saib Bin Sultan Al Busaidi in both Muscat and Zanzibar.
Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also recorded his speech in the museum’s VIP visitors register . While recording his address, he expressed his thanks and extended appreciation to those managing the National Museum of Oman affairs.
After the museum visit, Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi received several publications as a gift from the museum management.
