The president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, is on an official four-day visit to Saudi Arabia. During his visit, Governments of both nations signed seven key agreements in different fields. South Korean president was welcomed by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in Riyadh on Sunday.
Both leaders discussed many issues at the Al-Yammah Palace. The Crown Prince extended best wishes to the South Korean president for a pleasant stay in Saudi Arabia. Similarly, the South Korean president also expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality given to him by the Saudi Arabian government.
Bilateral talks among the leaders also revolved around the regional and international happening, including the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.The leaders signalled the adoption of a forward-looking approach in the economic field beyond the traditional realms of construction and energy.
The press statement released from the office of the South Korean President highlighted the commitment of leaders to develop the strategic partnership.
President Yoon requested the crown prince to support South Korean companies which are participating in major development projects, including NEOM, Qiddiya and the Red Sea. He also expressed hope that in the future, bilateral relationships between both countries will see new heights.
After the talks, there was a signing ceremony of the agreement and MoU between both countries .The first agreement was to establish the strategic partnership council between the countries, and the second agreement, namely the Hydrogen Oasis Initiative, aimed to enhance the cooperation in the field of green and clean hydrogen.
The third agreement was for visa exemptions for the holder of the diplomatic, special, and official passport. The fourth agreement involved the implementation of the joint statistical cooperation program between the Korean Statistical Office and the general authority for statistics in Saudi Arabia.
Many other agreements were also signed during the ceremony, and the final agreement was a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Korea to foster cooperation in the field of Food and medical products.
