The fifth annual UAE SWAT Challenge reached its exhilarating conclusion at the Dubai Police Training Centre in Al Ruwayyah, where 11 squads from the UAE showcased their skills.

Notably, this year’s competition saw a significant increase in participation, with 87 teams from 48 countries vying for victory, up from 55 teams in the previous year. The total prize pool amounted to Dh1 million ($272,000), reflecting the prestige and significance of the event.

Comprising categories such as tactical manoeuvres, assault tactics, officer rescue simulations, tower challenges, and obstacle courses, the UAE SWAT Challenge presented a rigorous test of skill, resilience, and teamwork.

In the obstacle challenge, the RNP SWAT team from Rwanda demonstrated exceptional agility and strategy, securing victory with 52 points. Teams from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan secured the second and third positions, respectively, with scores of 51 and 50.

“The decision to form the all-women team was made last year with the goal to excel on both local and global stages,” remarked Lobna Elhalawani, fitness trainer for the force’s elite F7 Directorate, emphasizing the importance of representation and empowerment within the profession.

Notably, other all-women teams from Chile, Belarus, and Thailand also participated, further enriching the spirit of camaraderie and diversity at the event.

The UAE SWAT Challenge serves as a platform to foster cooperation and mutual understanding among international SWAT teams while showcasing best practices in the field.

Since its inception in 2019, the event has grown exponentially, attracting teams from across the UAE and international participants eager to test their mettle on a global stage.

With tests designed to evaluate tactical skills, mental acuity, and physical endurance, the challenge embodies the essence of excellence and professionalism in law enforcement.

As Dubai Police celebrates their triumph at the UAE SWAT Challenge, the event stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to upholding security and safety domestically and internationally.
