Dubai, February 21, 2024: As the UAE Tour 2024 gears up to paint the city streets with the vibrant hues of cycling fervor, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has sounded the horns of caution for motorists.

Anticipating a surge in traffic and temporary road closures, the RTA has issued a notification to inform residents about potential delays on key roads during the cycling event set to take place on Thursday afternoon, February 22.

In a statement released via the social media platform X, the RTA advised commuters to brace themselves for disruptions between 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm, estimating delays of 10 to 15 minutes at certain junctions along the race route.

The temporary suspension of traffic at street intersections is a preemptive measure to ensure the safety of both cyclists and motorists.

“The UAE Tour 2024 will temporarily halt traffic at street intersections along its route on Thursday, February 22, from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm, causing delays of approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Normal traffic flow will resume once the last competitor passes through,” stated the RTA in its social media post.

The 175-kilometer journey, slated to commence at the Dubai Police Officer’s Club, promises to be a spectacle, as cyclists embark on a scenic tour of Dubai’s iconic landmarks.

From a loop around the towering Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai to traversing Deira and gliding past the imposing Big Flag, riders will weave through the city’s bustling streets before venturing towards the serene landscapes of Al Qudra Cycletrack and Jumeirah Islands.

The route culminates with a picturesque stretch along the renowned Palm Jumeirah, ending at Dubai Harbour.

En route, cyclists will navigate through a maze of roads, including Oud Metha Road, Al Maktoum Bridge, Baniyas Street, Al Khaleej Street, Al Wasl Street, Al Safa Street, and Financial Centre Street.

Subsequent stages will lead them through Umm Sequim Street, Al Qudra Road, Saih Al Salam Street, Expo Road, Garn Al Sabkha Street, and First Al Khail Street, culminating near Palm Jumeirah.

With the UAE Tour 2024 set to captivate cycling enthusiasts and spectators alike, the RTA’s proactive measures aim to minimize disruptions while ensuring the smooth flow of traffic across the city.

As residents prepare to witness the adrenaline-fueled spectacle of professional cycling, cooperation and patience on the roads will be key to navigating through the temporary inconveniences.

As the countdown to the UAE Tour 2024 begins, Dubai stands ready to embrace the spirit of athleticism and camaraderie, showcasing its vibrant energy on the global stage of competitive sports.
