Doha — Qatar Airways has announced the full resumption of its flight operations to Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan following the lifting of recent airspace restrictions in the Middle East.
The airline shared the update via a travel alert on its official website, confirming that its flight schedules to several key destinations will return to normal from late June and early July.
The move follows a period of heightened regional tensions which had prompted multiple airlines, including Qatar Airways, to alter or suspend routes as a precautionary measure. With the reopening of regional airspaces, the Doha-based carrier has been quick to reinstate full services across several countries.
In Iraq, where airspace has now reopened for both overflights and commercial operations, Qatar Airways will resume flights to multiple major airports. Service to Baghdad International Airport (BGW) resumed on June 30, followed by flights to Erbil Airport (EBL) on July 1.
Flights to Sulaymaniyah Airport (ISU) and Najaf Airport (NJF) recommenced on July 2, while operations to Basra Airport (BSR) restarted on July 3. In Lebanon, the airline will return to its full schedule to Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) starting July 1.
The route had previously operated under a limited service due to airspace limitations and security concerns. Similarly, full operations to Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman will resume on the same date.
The resumption of flights is expected to provide relief for thousands of travellers affected by recent diversions and cancellations.
Speaking earlier this week, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker revealed that over 20,000 passengers from 90 diverted flights had been rebooked onto new flights within just 24 hours during the peak of the disruption. The airline’s swift logistical response was praised by many passengers and industry observers.
Despite the encouraging developments, the airline confirmed that flights to Iran and Syria remain temporarily suspended. “We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as soon as they are available,” the travel alert stated.
Qatar Airways has advised all passengers to stay informed by regularly checking the flight status and travel alerts available on its website, www.qatarairways.com. Travellers are also encouraged to stay in contact with their local Qatar Airways office or travel agent for the most up-to-date information regarding their itineraries.
The restoration of regular flight services to key Middle Eastern destinations marks a significant step toward operational normalcy for Qatar Airways after weeks of uncertainty caused by regional instability.
It also signals a broader stabilization in aviation routes over the Middle East, offering renewed confidence for both business and leisure travellers planning trips to the region.
As the situation continues to evolve, Qatar Airways maintains that passenger safety remains its highest priority and that further route adjustments may be made in line with government directives and security assessments.
