Dubai has offered the public a striking first glimpse of what is set to become the world’s tallest metro station, unveiling a detailed scale model at the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) 2026.

The event, organised by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), drew significant attention as attendees gathered around the model of the future Emaar Properties Station, also known as the ‘Iconic Station’.

Planned as a centrepiece of the upcoming Blue Line  of the Dubai Metro, the station will rise to an impressive height of 74 metres in Dubai Creek Harbour, redefining the scale and ambition of transport infrastructure in the city.

With a total area of around 11,000 square metres, the station is designed to accommodate up to 160,000 passengers per day, reflecting Dubai’s growing population and increasing reliance on public transport.

The architectural vision behind the project comes from the internationally renowned firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), best known for designing the Burj Khalifa.

The station’s bold, sculptural form echoes Dubai’s approach to combining functionality with landmark design, positioning transport hubs not just as transit points but as symbols of the city’s global standing.

Strategically located in Dubai Creek Harbour, the Emaar Properties Station will act as a major interchange connecting residential, commercial and educational districts across the emirate.

It will provide direct access to areas such as Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City and Dubai International City, while strengthening links to key economic centres including Downtown Dubai, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Dubai International Airport.

Seamless connections to the Red and Green Metro Lines are also planned, significantly reducing travel times across the network.

RTA officials have highlighted that the station is expected to play a critical role in boosting public transport usage, easing road congestion and supporting Dubai’s long-term sustainability goals.

Improved walkability around the station and enhanced last-mile connectivity are also expected to positively influence property values and urban development in the surrounding areas.

Scheduled for completion in 2029, the station carries the Emaar name under a 10-year naming rights agreement, reflecting growing collaboration between the public and private sectors in shaping Dubai’s infrastructure.

The scale model displayed at DIPMF 2026 has been widely seen as more than just a preview of a new metro station. It represents Dubai’s broader commitment to innovation, future-ready transport solutions and architectural excellence, reinforcing the emirate’s reputation as a global leader in urban development.
