Baghdad, Iraq – Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity announced on Thursday the completion of a groundbreaking project to enhance power transmission capacity by 150%, leveraging advanced thermal wire technology.
The initiative marks a significant stride in modernizing the country’s electricity infrastructure and improving service delivery to residents.
In a detailed statement, the ministry revealed the successful rehabilitation of two critical power transmission lines in Al-Diwaniyah province.
The project focused on upgrading the Qadisiya–Al-Diwaniyah line, spanning 6.4 kilometers, and the Qadisiya–Al-Shamiya line, extending 16.6 kilometers. Both lines operate at a voltage of 132 kV and are vital components of the province’s electricity network.
The rehabilitation process involved replacing the aging and damaged power lines with cutting-edge high-precision thermal wires, a move designed to significantly increase the grid’s efficiency and capacity.
The ministry confirmed that this upgrade raised the design capacity of transmitted power from 90 MVA to an impressive 225 MVA, representing a 150% boost in transmission capability.
