Israel: Director General of IMOD visits “Merkava” factory

Major General(Res) Eyal Zamir recently visited the Merkava factory at the Tel Hashomer base. He is the Director General of the IMOD. His Visit to the factory was part of supervising the preparation of Israeli defence forces as the war between Israel and Hamas escalated in the last few days.

During his visit, he also discussed the repair work of the damaged weaponry. In the initial days, a huge number of weapons and equipment were destroyed in the attack of Hamas.

He also stated that efforts are going on to strengthen the capacity building of the Israeli Defence forces. He also stressed that the conflict between Israel and Hamas was without any provocation, and Israel reserved every right to defend its territories against the enemy.

It is to be specifically mentioned that to build the strong-armed protective cover against any attack heavy number of tanks, namer and Eitan Armored personal carriers(APC) and other necessary equipment have been supplied to the Isreal Defence Forces.

Eyal Zamir also conducted an assessment of the weapons delivery programme. These weapons include Merkava tanks and new APC vehicles, along with advanced systems relating to observations and information technology.

It is to be added that on the 7th of October, Hamas militants of Palestine launched a deadly attack against Israel. Hamas launched this sudden attack with the use of rockets, targeting many civilian areas and military bases.

Hamas militants called this operation “Operation Flood al-Aqsa”. After the attack of Hamas, Israeli defence forces also launched retaliatory action to counter the offensives of the Hamas. Israel launched Retailaroty action under the name of “Operation Iron Sword”. Many countries and international organisations are now calling for a ceasefire, but Israel is adamant to continue the war till the end of Hamas.

Major General also reaffirmed that Israeli Defence forces are capable enough to neutralise the opponents. He also said that the Israeli army is committed to protect its border with its full strength.
