Dozens of new migrants who came from the Uk arrived in Israel on February 20 Sunday as tensions on the border raised between Ukraine and Russia reached new highs.
According to the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption stated that 75 migrants have arrived in the country on the first flight, and another 22 were scheduled to land in Israel later in the day.
“Our message to the Jews of Ukraine is very clear — Israel will always be their home; our gates are open to them during normal times as well as in emergencies,” said Immigrant Absorption Minister Pnina Tamano-Shata.
As per the Immigrant Absorption Minister’ Pnina Tamano-Shata’, “our message to the Jews of Ukraine is obvious- Israel will always be their home, and our gates will be open for them always during normal times as well as in emergencies.
Furthermore, she stated, “Today we are happy while welcoming the dozens of immigrants from Ukraine, and we are prepared to give place to thousands who want to move to Israel, we always welcome them with open arms.”
One of the Immigrants came into the country with her husband and their daughter. She stated that “right now it is scary in Ukraine, everybody there was talking about war till the last moment we were tensed that our flight may get cancelled by the administration.
‘Gidi Schmerling’ of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the organization that organized the flight, said that migrants were tensed in the hours before departure.
He stated that the new arrivals had been scheduled to immigrate rather than rush because of the current crisis.
Ukraine has nearly 43,300 people who self-identify as Jews and about 200,000 qualified to immigrate to Israel under its Law of Return for Jews and their relatives, according to a 2020 demographic study of European Jewry.
During an interview, Ambassador Michael Brodsky stated that Israelis should soon be left the country and come to Israel.
