One man named ‘Aman’ from Kendrapara district, who went missing in Dubai returned home on Monday. He belongs to India ‘Odisha’, and after reaching home, he thanked the intervention of BJP National Vice President ‘Baijayant Panda’.

Panda had written to the Indian Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in response to a request from the helpless family members, requesting the latter’s help locating the missing person. The UAE is made up of Dubai and six other emirates.

Ajit Biswal, Sukant Biswal’s brother from Khadipal village in Pattamundai block of Kendrapara district, had gone to Dubai years ago. He was employed as a plumber by a company in the Gulf Sheikhdom.

According to family members, Ajit was supposed to return home on December 30, last year. His swab samples were taken for the mandatory Covid-19 test, and the results were positive. One of his colleagues, Sushant Sahu, also tested positive for the infection. Both were admitted to a Dubai private hospital. Ajit was transferred to another hospital two days later.

Following his recovery, Sushant went on a frantic search for Ajit, but he was unable to locate him. He then informed Ajit’s family of his disappearance.

Back in Odisha, worried family members tried everything to contact him but were unsuccessful. They then brought the matter to Baijayant Panda’s, requesting his intervention.

Panda contacted the Indian Embassy in the UAE, which facilitated the family reunion.

On Monday, when Ajit arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), his family members thanked Baijayant Panda for all of his assistance.

“Ajit’s return would not have been possible without the assistance of Baijayant, sir.” We were overly concerned after failing to contact Ajit. “Then the thought of contacting Baijayant sir occurred to us,” Sukant explained.

“Baijayant sir contacted the Indian Embassy in the UAE, who then contacted the company where Ajit worked.” The company officials then contacted the hospital authorities, where Ajit was being treated. “They then took steps to return him to India,” he added.

Ajit himself did not say much about his disappearance. “I went to Dubai in 2005. I do not have any idea what happened to me.”
