Kuwait: According to local media, a Kuwaiti academic delegation withdrew from a conference hosted by the University of Bahrain after an Israeli delegation participated in its activities.
This information came from a tweet of the ‘Youth League’ for Al-Quds in Kuwait. The council decided to withdraw from the conference, which was announced to be carried out in Bahrain on March 2-3 in the presence of several business schools in the Gulf countries.

The leader of the Youth for Al-Quds team in Kuwait, Musab Al-Mutawa, stated, “The exit of the Kuwaiti academic delegation confirms Kuwait’s clear official position opposing any form of normalisation with the occupation.”
Hamas’s appreciation for Kuwaiti position:
Hamas is a spokesperson ‘Hazem Qassem’ on Friday took to Twitter and showed his gratitude for the Kuwaiti position by rejecting the participation of an academic delegation in a conference that hosted an Israeli delegation.
Qassem stated, “Kuwait is recording once again an original and authentic Arab nationalist position with the withdrawal of a Kuwaiti academic delegation from a conference hosted by the State University of Bahrain, following the participation of an Israeli delegation in its activities.”
Furthermore, he stated that the situation shows Kuwait’s continuous standing by our people and continuous support for their right to struggle in order to recover the land and sanctities.

However, this is not the first time that Kuwait is doing and refusing to take part in events that include Israelis, as in February last year in 2021, noticed the withdrawal of Kuwaiti inventor Jenan Al-Shehab from the Expo 2020 Dubai due to the exhibition’s invitation to celebrate the occupation state, and the visit of the Israeli president to Abu Dhabi.
One of the famous tennis players of Kuwait, ‘Mohammed Al-Awadi’, also refused to take part in the semi-final match of the International Under 14 Championship, in Dubai, after knowing the fact that her 4th round match is going to be held with Israeli player.
In January 2022, Kuwaiti cultural representatives boycotted the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature due to the participation of an Israeli writer.
It is worth noting that the Kuwaiti law approved in 1964 prohibits normalising relations with Israel, calls for a boycott of it, and warns against contracting with it in various types of commercial deals or financial transactions, or any other transaction, as anyone who violates this is punished with imprisonment with temporary hard labour for a period of no less than three years and no more than ten years.
