Dominica: Roosevelt Skerrit, the current Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, shared his views on the union of the global south and the efforts of Venezuela and Cuba. The prime minister mentioned his words in alliance with the appreciation towards the works of ALBA–TCP in his recent speech.
In his words, PM Roosevelt Skerrit said in appreciation of ALBA–TCP that there are no other organisations that can be noticed around the globe doing such efficient work as them. He highlighted how in a small span of time ALBA –TCP managed to achieve great heights while serving people around multiple countries.
While continuing his words of praise PM Roosevelt Skerrit also mentioned the two individuals, commanders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, who were the founders of ALBA-TCP. While paying tribute to the two, the Dominican PM said that the two gentlemen were pioneering personalities in many aspects which led to the development in the world.
With this, PM Skerrit also mentioned about the collective approach of the nations and its importance, where he talked about the global south approach. He said, “It is a solidarity group that stands firm in the defence of sisters and brothers, which ensures that the efforts of capitalism, of neo-capitalism, will not defeat us, will not defeat our solidarity, nor our sovereignty as nations.”
In the same tune, PM expressed his views on Cuba and stated how the people of the neighbouring nation suffered due to the imposed embargo. He said that the world must take back in such conditions leaving one nation and its people suffering like this.
Roosevelt Skerrit highlighted the importance of unity between global nations across the issues of mutual interests. On the relations, he shared his solidarity and quoted that the nation of Dominica will stand with Cuba on all platforms and keep on strengthening the tie-ups. He stated that nothing could ruin the love for the people of Cuba and the Cuban Revolution.
In his speech, PM Roosevelt Skerrit also mentioned about the nation of Venezuela and the efforts of its people to maintain its sovereignty and stand for it. PM recognised President Maduro in his words and mentioned him as a man who was faithful to the Bolivarian Revolution. He said that Maduro will allow the Venezuelan people to advance their efforts for full sovereignty.
Above all, he mentioned about the national solidarity with Venezuela, which intends to defend the state of democracy in the country. He highlighted that it is not just a matter of ideology but of principles for equality and justice. He said, “The world must remain supportive and defend the people of Venezuela.”
In his words, he also showed solidarity towards the nations of Nicaragua and Bolivia. He stated that the collaboration between the nations is the much required thing in these times of geopolitics. PM Roosevelt Skerrit marked it as an active approach in the way of unity between global south nations.
