National Head for Healthy Ageing for the Qatar Ministry of Public Health and Medical Director of Rumailah Hospital and Medical Director of Rumailah Hospital and the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad, was rewarded “His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Prize for Research in Health Care for the Senior and Health Promotion” during the 150th session of the Execution Board of the World Health Organization.
According to Dr Al Hamad, winning the award/prize for the Research in Health Care for the Elderly and Health Promotion was the conclusion of the efforts exercised by the health sector in the state of Qatar and also said that the prize is one of the prestigious awards of WHO in the globe.
She said that the health sector s going to provide excellent care for the elderly, and many other essential achievements are going to make in this field, which includes the liftoff of clinics, specialised in remembrance and seniors in three health centres, as well as the launch of consultancy services in emergency departments.
She further said that numerous new services were also opened during the pandemic, such as the daycare unit for the elderly, the critical care unit, the monitoring unit, virtual clinics and its services, and medicine delivery services.
Then Dr Hamad explained that they had developed several training programmes targeting the non-geriatricians and caregivers of the elderly.
She added that home rehabilitation services were also provided, also opened mobile centres in various places just to provide home services, Like mobile dental care services and nursing services, as well as they launched a website for healthy ageing skin, which contains a lot of information about how can women treat their skin and some common medicines they can use in an emergency.
She was awarded because she made an excellent contribution to research in healthcare for the elderly and health promotion at the level of WHO.
