Violations of regulation for use of bicycles and electric bikes in Abu Dhabi start to apply

Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, announced the start of implementing violations of the regulations governing the use of bicycles and electric bicycles for individuals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. 

Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, announced the start of implementing violations of the regulations governing the use of bicycles and electric bicycles for individuals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi

The two sides indicated that the goal is to implement the highest standards of security and safety and to promote positive behaviours and adherence to the provisions of the regulation for a safe society.

The Center confirmed that the regulation for the use of bicycles and electric bikes is part of its efforts, in cooperation with the relevant strategic partners, to diversify means of transportation and establish an integrated and sustainable transportation system that improves the quality of services available to members of society and supports trends towards using environmentally friendly means of transportation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He added that bicycles and electric bikes are a means of transportation and one of the “first and last mile” trip services that link public transport bus stops and commercial, marketing, service and residential centres, enhance integration in the transportation system and enable community members to reach their final destination in a fast and economical way.

Fines will be imposed on those who do not comply with the provisions of the regulations

In addition, the regulations for the use of bicycles and electric bikes in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi specify fines for anyone who violates the provisions of the regulation. These include fines ranging from 200 dirhams to 500 dirhams for all: Violations that violate instructions, instructions and safety standards or related to roads and places where bicycles may not be used.

The two sides also made it clear that ensuring that users of bicycles and electric bikes comply with safety requirements and requirements is a top priority at all times and support a culture of sustainable, safe mobility and a lifestyle that contributes to the consolidation of Abu Dhabi’s position as a bike-friendly city.
