Saudi Arabia: A woman gave birth to a baby girl after being infertile for 13 years in Saudi Arabia.
A medical team at the Center for Infertility Treatment and Assisted Reproduction at Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Complex succeeded in using a new treatment technique, drawing a smile on the face of a “thirties” woman, who gave birth with the team’s help to a healthy girl, after 13 years of infertility, punctuated by many attempts to have children that were not written to her.
Dr Qamar Salem, a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology, infertility and IVF surgery, said: The lady visited the centre after 5 previous pregnancy attempts through ICSI and an attempt to transfer frozen embryos, But all of them were not destined to succeed, And that’s despite the presence of premium-grade embryos.
Looking at the results of the tests that she underwent, it was found that there were antibodies, in addition to a bigger problem, which is that the endometrium of the woman throughout the follow-up period during previous pregnancy attempts; she was thin. Despite attempts to treat her through steroids and estrogen; If its thickness did not exceed 6 mm, and this thickness is not suitable for the implantation and growth of the fetus, we resorted to modern technology to overcome this dilemma; Where we injected the endometrium with plasma saturated with platelets, which was taken from the woman’s own blood. And thanks to God, our efforts succeeded; Where the examinations showed a clear improvement in the thickness and quality of the endometrium, and before that, the antibodies were neutralized, and pregnancy occurred in the first attempt after the endometrial injection, and the pregnancy was followed up until I was blessed with a healthy and healthy baby girl, who was born in the ninth month.
The doctor added: The medical procedure that was done to treat endometriosis is a simple and safe procedure that is also effective in tissue repair because it contains growth factors, platelets and cytokines, which stimulate reproduction and improve the ability and thickness of the endothelium; Which enables the fetus to implant in it.
She explained that this procedure is used in other specialities such as orthopaedics, dermatology, recurrent projections, and uterine adhesions, But it is recently used in the recurrent failure attributed to the endometrium.
