Dubai: The Ministry’s Kuwait of Interior issued a warning to those citizens and residents who insulted the national flag or the flag of a friendly country and also stated that this comes in the judicial proceedings and if anybody breaks this law, will get a punishment.
As per the Kuwait new law, if anyone seems to disregard their national flag or the flag of a friendly country, either by destroying or degrading, they will be punished by three years of detention or a fine not exceeding KD250 (Dh3,000) or both.
According to the Ministry of Interior, stated that they even arrested a woman. They took some legal actions against her because she insulted her own national flag when they celebrated holidays by tying it around an animal.
According to a ministry statement, despite the Ministry’s warnings about spraying water and throwing water balloons, some parents allowed their children to engage in this irresponsible behavior, which led to quarrels during the National Day celebrations.
Major General Faraj Al Zoubi called upon parents to educate their children and warn them that this behavior negatively reflects celebration, resulting in fights. He stated that spraying water or destroying public property, and attacking others is no way of showing patriotism.
Kuwait’s flag was adopted on September 7, 1961, and was first flown on November 24, 1961. Prior to 1961, Kuwait’s flag was red and white, as were the flags of other Persian Gulf states at the time, with the field red and words or charges written in white.
The black on the left side of the flag represents victory over the nation’s adversaries. The top green stripe represents Kuwait’s beautiful plantations and fertile land. The white line in the middle represents the country’s constant pursuit of peace.
