bu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has declared that exhibitors participating in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fairs, Al Ain Book Festival and Al Dhafra Book Fairs for 2022 will be exempted from rental fees.
This comes in line with the centre’s strategy to enable the continuity and growth of the publishing sector’s business, enhance the recovery phase, and support local publishers and publishers from all over the world, based on the important role that Emirate of Abu Dhabi represents as a global beacon of culture, and the belief of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language in the great cultural role of publishers. Supporting them in light of the global conditions that were reflected in the publishing sector after the pandemic.
The Center had announced the day before yesterday that it would organize the “Al Ain Book Festival” during the period from 14 to 20 November in the city of Al Ain and through an agenda full of cultural, cognitive and artistic activities that suit all segments of society.
His Excellency Dr Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, praised this qualitative step for supporting achieving the goals of the new strategy of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and book fairs in general, which comes to translate the vision of the wise leadership to consolidate knowledge, advance the publishing sector, support local publishers, and enhance communication. Effective between these exhibitions, as prominent annual cultural knowledge platforms, and the publishing and creative content sectors locally, regionally and globally.
He added: “The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022, which is organized annually by the Center, has achieved remarkable successes, which have led to the consolidation of its position within the global cultural scene, in line with the leadership of the UAE, and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in particular, as an incubator for the most important exhibitions and cultural events, which open wide doors for the event was able to support publishers and stimulate competition among them to advance and develop the publishing sector in all aspects.
We are also currently working on developing the “Al Ain Book Festival” and “Al Dhafra Book” to launch a new look that meets the requirements and aspirations of publishers and the local publishing sector.
Over the course of a week, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair presented a wide range of comprehensive cultural, cognitive and artistic events that targeted different audiences, as it hosted 1,130 publishers from more than 80 countries and a selection of literary, intellectual and cognitive names from the holders of the most important international prizes such as the Nobel Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature. The exhibition also held a series of rich discussion sessions, seminars and art exhibitions about which the poet Adonis and the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economics winner Guido Imbenz, as well as discussion sessions, to introduce the winners of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for 2022 and the winners of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction “Al Booker”, along with the Japanese artist.
