Egypt: Minister Yasmin Fouad sets free squid birds in cooperation with UAE

Egypt: On the occasion of the New year 2023, The Minister of Environment, Dr Yasmin Fouad, has recently reviewed the achievements and feats accomplished by the environment ministry towards the protection of biodiversity 2022 at the Egypt Presidency for the negotiation sittings at the COP15 Conference held in Canada.

As per the updates, the environment minister, Yasmin Fouad, has attended the Releasing and repatriation of the squid bird in cooperation with the State of the UAE (United Arab Emirates); the Selecting of the migratory dove conservation project as a model of best practices for ICO funded projects 2022.

“Yasmin Fouad evaluated the achievements of the biodiversity field at national and international levels in the Conference of the Parties meeting for the Biodiversity Convention held in Montreal, Canada, from 7:19 December 2022.

 

Furthermore, the Ministry has achieved several achievements in several sectors, including its presidency and A series of meetings which aimed at making progress towards an ambitious global goal. 

The Ministry is working to facilitate the negotiation process in the meeting towards a post-2020 general framework for biodiversity to be presented to the world and future generations by the Canadian Minister of Environment.

The Minister of Environment, Yasmin Fouad, signed a memorandum of understanding between Egypt and Maldives to support the environment jointly.

The cooperation of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, in association with other countries, has made immense efforts in such fields, including environmental tourism and coastal management. Climate change, marine pollution and disaster management, environmental monitoring in air and water field.

Moreover, the Minister of the Environment, Yasmin Fouad, further confirmed the release and resettlement of the squid bird from the Dean’s Protection of Matrouh Governorate, Egypt. 

The event was organized in cooperation with the International Fund for Conservation of Squids in the sister state of the Arab Emirates. Such a project was considered one of the important cooperation initiated to protect biodiversity.

As per the reports, around 2000 squid birds were released from the republic of Egypt during the past year. The project was forced within the framework of the Cooperation Protocol aimed at the research of establishing projects aimed at the sustainable management of animals and poultry.

“The economic and social returns to the local communities in the region around which conservation projects of these species are centred, with the participation of the stakeholders as well as sharing experiences and building national capacities in recovery areas and sustainable management protection of squid birds and major agreed species”. Said Fouad.

The environment minister, Yasmin Fouad, said for successful and transformative results in the generalization of migratory dove conservation measures in the five sectors. Major (Fishing, Energy, Tourism, Agriculture, Waste Management) that affects the Live migratory pigeon birds along the Cracked Valley/Red Sea migration path.

Additionally, on her part, minister Fouad explained that the protection of biodiversity at the local level had been done according to many stakeholders, one of the most important monitoring of major activities of wildlife uses. The ambitious program has been implemented to monitor all major activities to display wildlife in farms alone, Private animal and circus.

Furthermore, by preparing an adequate database of these activities, the law has been activated regarding the declaration of those activities. Each has a record of the animals used, which are often from outside the Egyptian environment. The program includes a plan for periodic inspection and traffic in collaboration with the Environment and Flatlands Police.

Following the end, minister Fouad also stated that the efforts to protect biodiversity also included combating illegal trades in wildlife by developing a program to combat illegal trade in wildlife in collaboration with various government and non-governmental stakeholders and individuals interested in life preservation issues W E R I N G.
