Egypt: The Prime Minister of Egypt, Mostafa Madbouly, hosted Jordanian Princess Alia Bint Al-Hussein and discussed ways and opportunities to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in the field of investment within nature reserves.

On his part, Prime Minister Madbouly stated, “The twinning between the shelter protectors in Jordan and the Rayyan Valley in Fayoum represents an effective framework for cooperation to achieve the goals of protecting biodiversity and increasing investment opportunities.”

According to the update by the government, today received Dr Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister Princess Alia bint Al-Hussein, and her delegation to explore opportunities to enhance cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the field of nature protection and investment in nature reserves, in the presence of Dr Yasmin Fouad, Minister of the Environment, and Dr Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum.

At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the visit of Princess Alia bint Al-Hussein, to her second country, Egypt, citing the distinctive relations between the Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for continuous development and ongoing efforts to expand and deepen the spheres of bilateral cooperation by maximizing the shared interests of the two countries within the framework of their Brotherly bonds and strategic goals.

Dr Mostafa Madbouly also welcomed the sharing of experiences between the two countries in all areas that could enhance bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Jordan, including the twinning project between the Jordan Nature and Wildlife Sanctuary and the Rayyan Valley Reserve in Fayoum Governorate, as a model of cooperation between the two countries on the field of nature reserves.

The Prime Minister confirmed that this step represents an effective framework for cooperation in order to achieve the goals of protecting biodiversity and increasing investment opportunities, which Egypt is keen on, in light of the assignments of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to strengthen projects aimed at protecting and developing natural reserves, within the framework of the state strategy for sound management of ecosystems and natural resources.

The update also informed that on her part, Princess Aliya, daughter of Al-Hussein, expressed her happiness with this visit to Egypt, pointing to the results of the tours she accompanied the Minister of the Environment and the Governor of Fayoum, a number of Egyptian nature reserves, indicating that these reserves have promising opportunities for tourist attraction.

During the meeting, the Minister of the Environment addressed the results of her previous visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan last February, with the Governor of Fayoum, in response to the call of Princess Aliya bint Al-Hussein, to build a framework for cooperation between the two countries in the field of nature protection. The Minister said she visited the Sanctuary for Nature and Wilderness in Jordan and held meetings with Jordanian officials to learn about the style of managing the sanctuary in cooperation with civil society and the Hashemite sector.

The Minister drew attention to what she touched on during her visit to Jordan from the influential role of the Princess Alia Foundation, which aims to build effective partnerships locally and internationally to direct efforts toward various community projects.

It also mentioned that on his part, the Fayoum Governor reviewed during the meeting the axes of the proposed twinning project between the Shelter Protection in Jordan and the Rayyan Valley Sanctuary in Fayoum, clarifying that the project has been examined by Princess Aliya, daughter of Hussein, and the time period for implementation will be two years since the start of the land allocation.

The governor added that the project is one of the nature-based investment projects, which aims to attract investment in environmental tourism, consolidate the handicrafts that characterize Fayoum as a distinctive civil heritage, and therefore increase tourism movement.
