Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Dr Terrance Drew – Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, has welcomed the Minister of Tourism for Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Ahmed Agil Khateeb on Thursday afternoon, May 25, 2023. 

Prime Minister also extended heartfelt greetings to the accompanying delegation of the Saudi Tourism Minister during the meeting.

According to the reports, a number of ministers from the delegation of Prime Minister Terrance Drew were present at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Denzil Douglas, Konris Maynar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Samal Duggins, Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Joyelle Clarke Minister of Sustainable development.

Along with Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, Director of St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA), Dorietta Fraites, Mr Samuel Berridge, Senior Assistant Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.

On the other side, the Minister of Tourism Affairs for Saudi Arabia was accompanied by a total of eight (8) members, including Deputy Minister of Tourism for International Affairs; Faisal Alkahtani, Chief of Staff; Sultan Almusallam, Yazeed Almutairi, Director of Protocol; Deputy CEO of Saudi Fund for Development; Mohammed Alshenqiti, Portfolio Manage/EXPO 2030 tea; Abdulelah Allafi, Director of Logistics; and Meshari Almuhanna, Photographer.

The reports have stated that the Saudi Arabia Tourism Minister Al-Khateeb has been serving in the position for the last 25 years and have gained many experiences during his service till now in financial services and investment. He has founded, established, restructured and managed a number of agencies and companies associated with the government.

It was also said that Al Khateeb had led the transformation at the institutional level have accomplished long-term visions with utmost effectiveness and impact.

He has been handling multiple roles for the country, including serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), Chairman of the Quality-of-Life Program Committee as well.

Furthermore, the other roles played by the Minister of Tourism were also mentioned, such as Secretary General and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of New Jeddah Downtown, Secretary General and Member of the Board of Directors of Diriyah Gate Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Development Fund, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Tourism Authority.

The reports have confirmed that the meeting experienced a variety of discussions over various aspects and prospects related to the investment and Minister Al Khateeb’s desire to take the diplomatic relations with St Kitts and Nevis to the next level.

On his part, Prime Minister of the Caribbean Island, Terrance Drew, has mentioned his vision and framework for transforming the nation into a Sustainable Island State. He outlined various sectors requiring development and attention and such as energy, building resilience, along with health sector.

Moreover, Tourism Minister Agil Al-Khateeb also invited Prime Minister Terrance Drew with his delegation, including the senior Cabinet ministers, for an official visit to Saudi Arabia United Arab Emirates.

As per the reports, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands as the world’s second-largest Arab country, whereas it ranks as the fifth-largest nation in the Asian continent. Among the Middle Eastern nations, Saudi Arabia ranks first as the largest country in terms of land mass, reports added.

Among the ranks of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Saudi Arabia holds a significant position and is recognized as the second largest member of the same community after Algeria. It also ranks as the 14th largest nation in the world.

Saudi Arabia is known for various factors, such as citizens’ investments and global investments around the world, said reports.
