Egypt: The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, in cooperation with the governorates of Aswan and Alexandria, held two training seminars within the framework of a group of seminars and workshops held under the initiative in several governorates.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of their objectives, categories and criteria for the projects nominated for the second round.
It was stated that the nominated projects are currently available to apply for until the end of July 2023 through the initiative’s website, www.sgg.eg.
In addition, the seminar was held in Aswan Governorate with the presence of Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, Ghada Abu Zeid, Deputy Governor, Engineer Fatima Ibrahim, Secretary General, and members of the Executive Committees of the National Initiative in the provinces of Sohag, Kana, Luxor and Aswan.
The seminars were also attended with the participation of Salma Nassar, representative of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Nahid Fouad, representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, etc.
Along with them, Mamdouh Al-Sayed, representative of the Ministry of Environment, Sana Suleiman, and Mona Abdul Rahim, representatives of the National Council of Women, also attended the event.
In his speech, General Ashraf Attia confirmed that the axes of the National Initiative have come to emphasize Egypt’s athletic role in sustainable development, as well as provide an unprecedented opportunity to map smart green projects, link them to the funding authorities and attract the various necessary investments for them from inside and outside in order to achieve diverse positive returns during the coming period.
For her part, a representative of the Ministry of Planning explained that there is a vital and effective role for the 27 governorates across the republic in coordinating with relevant ministries to rehabilitate various projects that were presented for the Smart Green Projects Initiative, which aim to lay out solutions to reduce climate change.
Members of the Executive Committees of the National Initiative in the Alexandria Governorates, Marsa Matrouh and Lake, participated in the seminar of the Alexandria Governorate.
During the seminar, the initiative’s coordinator from the Ministry of Planning gave a brief summary of the initiative’s origin, its categories, conditions and mechanisms of participation, its stakeholders, and its different stages.
The initiative is working to increase the environmental awareness of the citizen, instil the principles and sustainable development goals, and address the effects of climate change.
During the seminar events of the governorates of Aswan and Alexandria, the representatives of the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology, the Environment, and the National Council for Women reviewed the objectives and categories of initiative classes.
The mechanisms and standards for evaluating the projects involved in the second round were also emphasized, along with the concept and tools for evaluating the green and smart components and the standards for evaluating projects for women.
