Israel’s Government decided to ban female prison guards. The decision came after the female soldier admitted sex with a Palestinian inmate.
The names of the female soldier and inmate have not been disclosed. A Palestinian man was serving a life sentence in a high-security prison.
Israel’s national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, said that soon, female soldiers will be banned for prision duty. They will not be deployed in high-security prisons. He also referred to this as fulfilling of long awaiting demands of public and civil organisations.
Women in Israel are bound to serve army for at least two years. On the other hand, Israeli men have to serve in the armed forces for at least 32 months. Under compulsory service, there is no exception to evade to responsibility to serve in the armed forces.
The female guard admitted intimacy with a Palestinian man, she also admitted that she came into contact with this intimate during her deployment there.
The accused Palestinian prisoner is responsible for deadly attacks on the civilians in Israel.
Meanwhile, the court hearing the case made an order that details of the accused not to be disclosed , including the location of the prison. These orders came to ensure the impartial and independent investigation by investigation agencies.
The Palestinian inmate has now been transferred to a segregated wing ahead of interrogation, the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) said.
IPS chief Katy Perry and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that in the future, women guards will not be allowed to serve in prisons.
Their future deployment will be outside the prisons, especially where highly dangerous Palestinian imate and terrorist have been lodged.
Israeli sources quoted Mr Ben-Gvir as saying that my the mid-2025, “not a single women solider will remain on duty at high security prisons”
The majority of high-security prisons are holding Palestinian terrorists.
These terrorists are responsible for the loss of a large number of Israeli soldiers as well as Israeli civilians.
There have been repeated calls in the past against women posted in high-security prisons.
Many civil organisations with the active support of the Israeli public demanded that services of female soldiers be stopped in high-security prisons across parts of the country.
Notably , last year Israeli minister ordered a high-level inquiry when a similar kind of incident was reported from one of the high-security prisons.
In that occurrence of last year, it was alleged that a Palestinian convict had assaulted and raped a female guard who was serving as a prison guard. Some senior official of the prison department had also “pimped out” the conscripts.
