Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin, met with the president of the democratic republic of Congo, Mr Felix Tshisekedi. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly 78th session in New York City, United States of America. Leaders of many other countries also held bilateral and multilateral meetings on the sidelines of this session of the General Assembly.
Many important issues were discussed. Apart from the discussion on improving bilateral relations, other important issues on the agenda were trade , security , technology transfer, cyber security, etc .
The biggest announcement came in the form of breakthrough news that Israel will open its embassy in the democratic republic of Congo. At the same time, his Excellency president of Congo also announced that Congo would relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Both leaders recalled the old memories how mutual relationships of both countirs ran throgh ups and down. The opening of the embassy by Israel in Congo will be a big boost for bilateral relations israeli prime minister added . This will improve the diplomatic ties between both countries . Improved bilateral relationships will also encourage people-to-people contact between people of both the democratic nations of the world .
In the same way, the announcement by the Congo president will also reaffirm Israel’s claim over Jerusalem. Very few countries moved their embassy to Jerusalem, given the opposition from Islamic countries . Congo is the latest of a few countries that moved their national embassy to Jerusalem.
The embassy of Israel in Congo will come up to Kinshasa, Congo. After the meeting, both leaders also released a joint press statement . The president of Congo expressed his gratitude to the Israeli prime minister for the decision to open its embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
