The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CENG) of Qatar University launched the “Future Engineer” event. The event was launched by the CENG with the collaboration of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The event was sponsored by Dolphin Energy Limited And Exxonmobil with the aim of introducing the students to various fields of engineering.
The main objective of the event was to highlight the importance of civil and mechanical engineering along with other branches of engineering. The event also aimed to enhance the interest of the students in science and technology so that they could contribute to the technological development of the country.
At this event, students got the opportunity to get themselves involved in scientific experiments and gain in-depth knowledge of various scientific areas. Some of the main areas of engineering students got familiar with included civil engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental and water engineering etc.
Head of the civil and environmental engineering department, Alla Al-Hawari, stated that “this event will not only cultivate interest in the study of engineering but specifically highlight the pivotal role of civil engineering in shaping the future. Moreover, it provides the opportunity to aspiring students to get firsthand experience in engineering. Future engineer events offer the students to explore engineering in an engaging and practical manner.”
The head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, while addressing the attendees, emphasized the significance of the event. She stated that “in today’s technology-driven world, this event holds great importance for the student community. Students got a glimpse into the wonderful world of mechanical engineering. Moreover with this kind of event, we want to inspire the young talent of the country to choose engineering”.
Meanwhile, Rashid Al-Hajri, vice president of strategic relation, public and government affairs for Exxonmobil Qatar, said “We are pleased to sponsor the future engineer event of our long-term partner that is Qatar university. This also reflects our commitment towards the educational sector of the country.”
